Have you heard about Turkish jazz? If the answer is no then on June 6th-8th at the Cruise ship terminal the 25th anniversary Klaipeda Castle Jazz Festival has already made sure that you get the chance to hear it!
“Karsu is an excellent pianist and an unbelievably talented artist. Her deep vocals are full of various colors and her mysterious and dreamy stories being told in her native Turkish propel the listener into a hypnotizing swirl of jazz sounds. It is a wholly unique and original sound that is only present within her. When listening to Karsu a feeling of closeness and comfort manifests immediately making you feel as if you understand her every word.” - states the organizer of the Klaipeda Castle Jazz Festival Inga Grubliauskienė.
A musician since early childhood, Karsu grew up in Amsterdam, Netherlands. During her career she has performed in over 20 different countries, traveled many festivals, performed three times at the legendary Carnegie Hall venue in New York city, performed many times at the famous “North Sea Jazz Festival” in the Netherlands and as well as performed on the theater stage.
Without a doubt you could call Karsu multi-talented. The dutch musician with turkish roots is not only gifted as a mesmerizing vocalist and pianist but also as a composer and songwriter. She single handedly wrote almost all of her critically acclaimed songs from her multiple albums. Additionally her sophomore album released three years ago won the audience award at one of the most prestigious dutch award ceremonies “Edison Jazzism”.
